Responsibilities
The Deputy Clerk is responsible for:
- Maintaining all public records
- Attesting to official documents or actions taken by the Village Board, committees, and commissions
- Updating the municipal code book
- Validating petitions
- Administering election law and procedures
- Maintaining voter registration information
- Participating in and implementation of redistricting boundaries following a Federal Census
- Issuing municipal licenses and permits
- Acting as the secretary to the Village Board
- Maintaining agendas and minutes
- Preparing publication of legal notices
The Deputy Clerk must be familiar with adopted resolutions, municipal ordinances, policies, procedures and a multitude of state and federal laws dealing with municipal services.
