Responsibilities

The Deputy Clerk is responsible for:

  • Maintaining all public records
  • Attesting to official documents or actions taken by the Village Board, committees, and commissions
  • Updating the municipal code book
  • Validating petitions
  • Administering election law and procedures
  • Maintaining voter registration information
  • Participating in and implementation of redistricting boundaries following a Federal Census
  • Issuing municipal licenses and permits
  • Acting as the secretary to the Village Board
  • Maintaining agendas and minutes
  • Preparing publication of legal notices

The Deputy Clerk must be familiar with adopted resolutions, municipal ordinances, policies, procedures and a multitude of state and federal laws dealing with municipal services.
