May/June Construction Update for STH 164 from Wisconsin DOT

Department contractor continues construction progress. Topsoil has been removed and stockpiled at roadway reconstruction near Shady Lane and north of Monches Rd. Excavation of adjacent slopes is underway at near Shady Lane and will continue with excavation and lowering of roadway across the next two weeks and continued hauling of excavated soils to waste site near south project limits.

Existing pavement has been removed and roadway excavation is beginning north of Monches Rd. Crushing/screening operation for aggregate production is scheduled to begin the week of May 28. Culvert pipe installations originally scheduled for mid April will begin late the week of May 20. Pipe crews will start at locations between the south project limits and Monches Rd., and then move north to install culvert crossing at Hubertus Rd.
Culverts will be installed in stages to allow local traffic access.

Shoulder and intersection widening and grading between the south project limits and WIS 167 will begin in late May – progressing south to north. Hubertus Rd. reconstruction is also scheduled to begin in late May. Hubertus Rd. will be lowered by up to 5 feet to the east
of WIS 164. Pavement on Hubertus Rd will be removed beginning late the week of May 27. Excavation to lower Hubertus Rd. will be staged to allow local access, with work scheduled to begin Monday June 3rd. Following Hubertus Rd grading, work will move to lower WIS 164 between St Gabriel Lane and just north of Hubertus Rd.

The 2nd stage of 2019 construction will begin the week of June 10th with WIS 167 closed to through traffic for roundabout construction, and contractor mobilizing additional crews for roadway rehabilitation north of WIS 167. WIS 164 will be closed to through traffic from south project limits near County Q to County E WIS 164/167

Roundabout Lighting
The department has had multiple inquiries about planned lighting at the WIS 167 roundabout. Please visit project website for more information on design standards utilized for intersection lighting. Lighting has been designed to minimum allowable light
levels.
