Washington County Plan to Purchase Wally & Bee's Last Stop Resort

Washington County estimates the total cost of the project to be approximately $2,000,000. The proposed boat launch would be owned, operated, and maintained by the County. The County’s preliminary design calls for the demolition of the buildings on the property, a small roundabout, four (4) boat trailer parking spots, an additional handicapped boat trailer parking spot, a fishing pier, and extension of the small beach which currently exists on-site.

The amount of money the County is requesting from the Village is a contribution in the amount of $250,000 or one-quarter of the net-cost, assuming they receive approximately $1,000,000 in Wisconsin DNR grants for property acquisition and site work. The  County hopes to apply for the WI-DNR grants in spring in the hopes that they receive notification in August or September that they’ve secured the needed funds.

Washington County has requested that the Village provide an answer to their formal request for funds by February 22nd. In addition to taking the time to review the presentation linked below,  we encourage our residents to watch our website for  notifications if “special” meetings of the Village Board occur prior to February 22nd to consider this topic. As a Staff we will continue to communicate with the Friess Lake Advancement Association (FLAA) and other area stakeholders along with working hard to put information on our website, social media, t.v. channels, and when possible, in our local papers.
